Pickup at Yuncheng Airport and the drive to the hospital are free for our patients — the airport is roughly a 20-minute drive away. We send the car to meet your flight; all we need from you is a photo of the tickets and the arrival time.
How the pickup works
Pickup at Yuncheng Airport and the drive to the hospital are free for our patients. The airport is roughly a 20-minute drive from the hospital.
One or two days before departure, send the coordinator a photo of your tickets and the exact arrival time via WhatsApp. That is all it takes: we send the car to meet the flight, and there is nothing to book or pay for separately.
At the airport a driver meets you with a sign showing your surname, right after the baggage claim area. If you miss each other, you always have the coordinator's direct contact in WhatsApp: he will call the driver and tell you where to look.
If your child uses a specialised wheelchair, if you need a child car seat, or if you are travelling as a large family with bulky luggage — tell the coordinator while the dates are being agreed, so the right vehicle is sent.
Useful tips
- Flight delayed or luggage missing — just message the coordinator, the driver will wait
- For infants and children under 12 kg it is easier to bring your own infant carrier seat
- If you are arriving by train or connecting through another city rather than flying into Yuncheng, tell the coordinator in advance and the pickup will be arranged separately
The first days without Chinese
The language barrier is more frightening in anticipation than it is in practice. Inside the hospital your questions go through the coordinator, and the everyday tasks of the first days — a taxi, a shop, a pharmacy — are handled with a smartphone and a few addresses saved in Chinese.
Ask the coordinator to send you the hospital address and your accommodation address in Chinese characters and save them in your phone's notes: that is enough to show a taxi driver and get home without a word of explanation.

Wi-Fi is available at the hospital and in most cafés and shopping centres, and payments almost everywhere go through WeChat Pay or Alipay. Setting up payments and connectivity is easiest during the first days on the ground — ask the coordinator, he will tell you what currently works.
