About the condition

What is Pediatric Orthopedic Conditions?

The orthopedic program at Yuncheng People's Hospital works with a wide range of musculoskeletal deformities in children: from flatfoot and foot and knee deformities to posture disorders and spinal curvatures (scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, kyphoscoliosis), as well as hip dysplasia.

Rehabilitation combines physical therapy, TCM Tuina massage, acupuncture (including spine and back acupuncture for scoliosis and posture disorders), heated herbal bag treatment, and pharmacopuncture — the specific combination of methods is chosen individually depending on the type and severity of the deformity.

What parents should know

More specific conditions — congenital clubfoot and equinus ("horse") foot — are treated by the clinic as their own dedicated rehabilitation programs, using the Ponseti casting method and specialized physiotherapy.

Required examinations

For the in-person consultation, it helps to bring results of prior examinations (X-rays, joint imaging, orthopedist's reports), if available.

Causes

Symptoms

The clinic's orthopedic program covers: flatfoot (longitudinal and transverse), high-arch (cavus) foot, valgus and varus deformity, valgus ("X-shaped") and varus ("O-shaped") knee deformity, scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis, kyphoscoliosis, hip dysplasia, and posture disorders. Congenital clubfoot is treated by the clinic as a separate program.

Diagnostics

Before the consultation, the clinic needs a current medical discharge summary with the diagnosis and, if available, results of prior examinations (X-rays, joint imaging). The doctor determines the final examination and treatment plan after an in-person assessment.
